Anime: Fruits Basket

Yesterday, I’ve finished a very well-known shoujo manga which usually pops out as an anime favorite. Is it 3 months ago? Maybe more…I accidentally watched the 11th episode instead of the first one. I was close to deleting some 6GB worth of anime, when I saw the other “1″ on 11. Te-hee, my mistake. It turns out the 11th episode was one of the many weak filler episodes in the anime. That is the major downside of the anime: half of it are fillers. I mean, the most interesting arc will take place on the last 3 episodes. Watching those will make you realize the importance of the other 23 and turn such a simplistic anime comparable to other great shoujos like Honey and Clover.
I didn’t even notice when I started liking this anime. The main girl is your ultimate goody-two-shoes heorine. With such a character in the story, you can basically guess the set-up. A reverse harem…add up some disturbing past for each character that would one by one be healed by our own mother theresa…omygosh, why am i sounding so bitter? I loveeeee this anime. I would even gladly watch it again if you demand so. I wouldnt even ask for money while doing it. That alone warrants it as an inclusion in my top 10 must watch anime.
I don’t know when I stopped grimacing…but I guess, I myself had fallen to magic that our Tohru-kun has placed on the Sohma household. Don’t worry, I’m not as bad as the bitcky Akito-san(that guy is freaky!). I was converted in the earlier episodes…though I admit I’m not genuinely affected with the teachings of tohru’s okasan.

Minor spoilers ahead

Why I like this drama…
1)touching episodes: last 3 episodes, and also that part where Kyo and Yuki went to pick up Tohru from her evil relatives.
2) the zodiac curse is very creative and interesting – how they apply each zodiac’s behaviour on the characters
3) Kyo and Yuki’s bantering relationship
4) the fact that they didn’t lie heavily on the love-triangle, it’s there but it instead they developed the friendshipaspect…just to let u know though, I am rooting for the Kyo-Tohru pair (see reason below).
5) The Vibes girl and Shigure san are insanely funny!!
6) Hilarious scenes: tohru’s girlfriends visit the Sohma household, spring cleaning, evil girls visit hanajima’s(vibes girl) house…and many more. My mind is kinda blank at the moment.

Parts I didn’t like

1) Yuki’s female seiyuu!!! Especially on the supposedly romantic scenes with Tohru…they turned out, errr…homoerotic? And since I don’t swing on that side, it just isn’t very moving…more like disgusting.
2) The monkey and his mother…gawd, they are annoying!

Yes love Kyo and Tohru too. You should read the manga to have more of them together. Fruits Basket is by far one of my favorite mangas. It makes you cry, happy and have so many questions. Haha, so many things are revealed which makes your post 70% inaccurate. You’ll get what I mean when you read the manga.
