First Impression: Spring JDramas 2007

As a jdrama addict, Christmas comes 4 times a year. Toward the end of each season, I visit the jdrama wiki page to get a glimpse of the upcoming dramas. One by one, I go through each synopsis while carefully scanning for my favorite actors. “Wah~ It’s L in a robo-otaku role!” “Yey! Another Tsukamoto Takashi drama…but wait, don’t tell me he’s also an otaku – a train otaku!?” ” Tsk, tsk…the YamaP International Confederation will finally get its fix since Kurosagi”

Round 2: The Witch and our Aegisshi

Status: Halfway Through

The pictures say it all. Hello! Miss wins hands down. I didn’t really want to compare the two, but I have this habit of justifying my favorite by pointing out how bad its “neighboring-dramas” are. So, puh-lease, stop reading if you think you can’t handle criticisms targeted at your favorite. For this particular post…the subject for my current dissatisfaction is none other than Witch Amusement.

Kanojo to no Tadashii Asobikata SP

Before you watch any of the debut episodes of this season’s dramas, give this one a try first! It’s a much better choice to start you off than say Sexy Voice and Robo (which I have a feeling will turn into Kuitan). “The Proper Way to play with Her” is a very short single-episode drama based on the script that won the 2006 TV Asahi contest for new scenario writers.

Jdrama: IWGP (and Kudo Kankuro)

[Story]

“Living in an area known for its juvenile crime, 21 year-old Makoto has become a member of a youth gang called the G-Boys. Known for his cool head and ability to get things done, Makoto becomes a key trouble-shooter for the gang by diffusing tense situations and keeping his friends out of harm’s way. However, the death of his girlfriend and an escalating turf war with a rival gang threaten to be more than Makoto can handle.”

I have no idea who wrote that synopsis at jdorama but it’s half-wrong. Makoto (Tomoya Nagase) is not a member of the G-boys. You will realize the importance of this point as you become more engrossed in the Ikebukuro life.

First Impression: Hello Miss!/Witch Amusement

I am not gonna compare both. Plot wise, they are completely different (in kdrama standards). As a matter of fact, Witch Amusement is like the teenybopper version of Dal Ja’s Spring.
