Status: Halfway Through
The pictures say it all. Hello! Miss wins hands down. I didn’t really want to compare the two, but I have this habit of justifying my favorite by pointing out how bad its “neighboring-dramas” are. So, puh-lease, stop reading if you think you can’t handle criticisms targeted at your favorite. For this particular post…the subject for my current dissatisfaction is none other than Witch Amusement.
Witch Amusement: I’ve actually liked it at first as I’ve mentioned from my previous post. After 5 episodes…
- I still think Han Ga In is not right for this role. There came a point where the drama turned into a catwalk just to show off her fabulous outfit one after another. How to say it…? A mere barbie to play dress up. I give up expecting that I’ll eventually like her. I’ve crossed the line between neutrality and annoyance. I’m just simply annoyed with her now.
- The fact that the development between Moo Ryong and Yoo Hee is close to nil, or how they’re dragging out the Johnny-YooHee/ JunHa-YooHee arcs is driving me crazy. The writers have been too ambitious in attempting not only a love square but a love pentagon (or hexagon if we count Sonbei’s fiancee). First rule: if you want your triangle to be successful, either, get a rival that the viewers would fall for (e.g. Lee Jun Ki from My Girl), or get someone that they would despise and feel like strangling to death ( eg. Um Tae Woong from Delightful Girl Choon Hyang).
- The supporting casts remain to be insignificant decorations. Dazzling, yes. Acting, errrr.
- The subplot concerning Jun-Ha’s deal with Yoo-Hee’s father is not even as intriguing as Yoo-rin’s secret in My Girl. And, darn…why did the lovable grandpa changed into this…this…despicable father?
Anyway, you clearly get the picture. Witch Amusement is turning out to be a waste of time. I think I haven’t heard myself laugh since episode 2.
However, if my love for Witch Amusement disintegrated since episode 2, my love for Hello! Miss has found a permanent place in my favorite list (crosses fingers- let’s not jinx it;)). I take back my comment about it having weak supporting actors. Ironically (as compared to WA), the DongGyu-SuHa-ChanMin triangle is probably the most enjoyable one that I’ve seen in a kdrama. The nonexistent bar scenes are proof enough. Do you remember one of the ten commandments of kdramas where the supporting leads hang out in these fancy bars to drink themselves into oblivion because they couldn’t make the leads love them back? Yup, those ones. We might get one of this toward the end of the drama, but right now, there’s nada. It’s a full-fledged, friendly and hilarious battle between our two boys. I still chuckle whenever I’m reminded of the stripping competition and the Hwang Sisters’ singing performance. This is how a love triangle should be done. Enough said.

I like you
i like you too! bassyA!
OMGOSH. I thought “Hello Miss” was really mediocre…… I watched it because Lee Da Hae was in it.. of course, she acted great and cute.. but the storyline was just bad.. It was kind of boring. I then watched “Witch Yoo-Hee” and I thought that it was a little better than “Hello Miss”. But I think “Que Sera, Sera” is best.
I half agree with you. Hello Miss kinda disintegrated after episode 8? 9? But Witch Amusement is crap all the way through.
I am in the process of dl-ing que sera sera – I heard a lot of good reviews about it.
Hello Miss got potential but the problem is the supporting actors which are amateurs. Lee Da Hae and Lee Ji Hoon did a great job.
The song despicable person that the Hwang sisters sing who is it by
